With the success of his Overland Park, Kansas surgery center, Dr. Goldstein wanted to expand his existing practice to Lee’s Summit’s fast growing community. The design team studied his existing facility to understand its success and found that a large percentage of patients came to the center solely upon having seen the building.

“Building used as a billboard” became the central theme for the Lee’s Summit design. The site was located along the busy I-470 corridor providing maximum visibility and exposure.

An aluminum screen covers mechanical equipment facing I-470 and the 10’ high logo creates a strong visual point that reinforces their brand image, making it one of the most recognizable buildings in the area.

The objectives were to fit in, yet stand out, and reduce the clinical feeling of a medical building while conveying the cutting-edge healthcare services provided. The front canopy clearly stands out as the destination point with the curving walls serving to soften the clinical feel. Unique and interesting interior spaces feature natural materials, curved walls, accents, and integrated art to add visual interest and create a feeling of warmth.
