The providers at the Surgicenter of Johnson County are ready to update their space to better serve their patients and provide more flexible working spaces for their staff. Right sizing the facility for current needs as well as planning for future growth and flexibility are key components to the success of this project.

Their new, 20,500 square foot, facility will include 6 operating rooms and 18 prep/recovery spaces. A primary focus of the design was to create an efficient connection between patient care areas along a central circulation path. In turn, this created an efficient layout and allows for future growth in those areas. To support the nursing staff as they assist patients and providers before and after procedures, the PACU spaces are designed to be flexible, and each bay meets both pre- and post-op requirements.

Key concepts also include a central nurse station with clear views to the PACU bays as well as direct and convenient access to and from the semi-restricted access areas. HCA facilities are moving toward a more centralized billing, scheduling, and office model. Knowing this, the facility was designed with a smaller, more efficient billing and general operations space.
