Lasik Treatment Suite

Natural Light in Waiting Areas

description

The baseline design of the facility was to provide comfort and quality of environment for every user of the building, whether patient, staff, or visitor. The facility consists of a patient diagnostic and exam area, a Lasik treatment suite, and an ambulatory surgical center. The waiting areas are destinations on the path through the examination and procedural process.

Each area has a specific purpose that is reflected in the design. For example, the diagnostic areas are open to each other for flexibility and staff communication. However, in the exam area, the rooms are organized in a front-and-back of house design. For efficiency and privacy, the physician and scribes can enter the rooms from the back side and the patients enter from the front.

While a typical eye care clinic leans towards elimination of light, Moyes Eye Center embraces it. The main waiting areas have large windows that look out and open into the natural sitework. They have natural interiors, warm fabrics, and comfortable furniture. The Lasik clinic is designed to be open and inviting and the surgical suite is designed to soothe patients. Visitors and families are welcome to view some procedures in the theater-style environment.
