ACI Boland Architects assisted Clarinda Regional Health Center in performing a comprehensive facility assessment. It was determined as a result of the assessment that building a replacement hospital and clinic would be more cost effective than updating the existing facility. A master plan and design of a new replacement hospital was completed to accommodate current and future needs of the community.
The new facility is unique by servicing approximately 15,000 residents in the southwest region of Iowa. It was designed around a vision of delivering a welcoming environment for patients seeking state-of-the-art, quality healthcare. It is one of a few critical access hospitals that hosts an air ambulance with heated helipad and ER pathway. Patient comfort, large surgery suites, paperless medical records, and directional clarity were high priorities in the design. Centralized check-in serving the hospital and clinic is within steps of entering the facility. Greeting patients as they enter the lobby are warm hues and nature inspired finishes.
