Blue River Surgery Center – HCA Midwest Health

Kansas City, MO

description

ACI Boland partnered with HCA Healthcare Ambulatory Surgery Division and Hammes to design the new Blue River Surgery Center, a 22,500-square-foot facility boasting five operating rooms and two procedure rooms. This addition complements HCA Healthcare’s network of ambulatory surgery centers in the Kansas City area.

The design prioritizes both functionality and patient care. A streamlined connection between the semi-restricted OR area and the prep and recovery zones creates a central hub for support staff, ensuring efficient patient flow throughout the surgical process. This thoughtful layout minimizes travel times for staff and reduces stress for patients as they transition between stages of care.

Recognizing the importance of reducing stress for everyone involved the design incorporates dedicated outdoor spaces for staff and families. These tranquil areas, featuring landscaping and comfortable seating, provide an escape from the clinical setting. Staff can take a moment to recharge and refocus, while families have a calming space to wait or relax. Ultimately, these design elements foster a positive environment that promotes well-being for both patients and caregivers.
